I am Ruk Kumari, wife of Dil Bdr. My husband works as a daily wage laborer. There are 13 people in my family, and I have been living in this village for the past 30 years.

I moved here from a neighboring district after my house and land were swept away by a flood during the night. I barely escaped with my life. After that, I had to manage everything on my own.

Since then, I was forced to use other people’s wells for water. Because of this, I faced many problems. Once, there was a dispute with a well owner, and I was even taken into police custody. I felt deep sorrow that I did not have a well of my own.

Through the help of a local pastor, I have now received this well. Today, I have water and peace. There are no more disputes with anyone. I have enough water for my household needs and for my animals as well. I feel free from all the obstacles and hardships that once surrounded water collection.

I am also able to share this water with others who are in need or facing similar problems. There is a church near my home, and I have often heard about Jesus. Thank you so much for the well.

I am Chandra Bindu, wife of himlal. My husband works as a daily wage laborer. There are three people in my family, and I have been living in this village for the past five years.

Previously, I had to collect water from a neighbor’s well, which was about a 10-minute walk from my home. We faced many difficulties getting enough water for cleaning. It was not appropriate to bathe at the well itself, so I had to carry water back to my house. Over time, the well owner did not agree to let us use the well for long.

When a local pastor visited us, a well was provided to our family through Quenched. Now I have sufficient water for cleaning and all household needs. I also have enough water to irrigate my crops and vegetables. I am able to share this water with neighbors who lack access to clean water.



Having clean water in my own yard has brought great relief, as I no longer have to walk long distances. I had heard a little about Jesus before, but during the well drilling I had more opportunities to hear about Him.

I am Sita, wife of Rajendra Ram. My husband works as a daily wage laborer. There are ten people in my family, and I have been living in this village for the past 20 years. Previously, I had to collect water from a neighbor’s well, which was about a five-minute walk from my home.

However, getting water from there was very difficult for us because of our caste. We were only allowed to go in the evening, because the well owner was afraid of the community. They believed that if others saw us drawing water from their well, they would be excluded from society.

This situation made us feel very uneasy, but we had no other choice than to endure the hatred. Otherwise, we would have had to return to collecting water from the

river, which I did not want to do.

Later, my husband met a local Christian man who helped us receive this well. Now I have clean water in my own yard, and I no longer have to face the problems we experienced before. They also shared the word of God

with us. Although our religion does not allow us to listen to the word of God because of our caste, I felt great love when they were here.

I am Sadima, wife of Mahotam. There are 12 people in my family, and my husband works as a daily wage laborer. I have been living in this village for the past 26 years. During this time, I had to rely on many different water sources. Eventually, I began using a  neighbor’s well, which was about a 20-minute walk from my home.

The well owner often became angry with us because we needed to draw a large amount of water, as I have a big family. Because we are Muslim, we also faced hatred and unfair treatment.

I was told that Quenched provides clean water wells to families like ours. After the well was drilled in our own yard, we now have clean water without any objections from anyone. This has been a great

blessing for our family.

As a Muslim, I knew Jesus as a prophet, but through the Bible I learned that He is the Son of God. Thank you so much for the well.

I am Sachal, wife of Ram Babu. My husband is a barber and has a small shop in the village. Whatever

he earns from this work is used to buy food and clothing for our family. There are seven people in my family, and I have been living in this village for the past 16 years.

Previously, I had to collect water from a distant well, which was about a 30-minute walk from our home. Because it was so far, we could not bring enough water for our household needs. We also faced hatred and discrimination because of our caste. The well owners did not allow us to touch their well, so we were forced to draw water only when no one else was present.

After receiving this well, I no longer have to walk long distances to collect water. Now I have sufficient water for all our daily needs. Even more than that, there is no longer anyone to insult or hate us. I feel

truly fortunate to have received this well, which has taken away our sorrow.
