Village Mathiya was born out of compassion and struggle. Years ago, a landowner allowed poor migrant laborer families to settle on unused land. They built huts and worked as daily laborers, but owned nothing, not even the ground beneath them, and depended on neighboring villages for water.

As the community grew, the landowner's descendants demanded the villagers buy the land or leave. Most families couldn't afford it, but by God's grace, a few stepped forward to purchase land so no one would become homeless.

One need still remained: safe water. Through prayer and

the support of generous partners, a borewell was drilled.

It was a day of tears and gratitude, a reminder that God

had not forgotten them. Today, women no longer travel

far for water, children have easy access, and neighbors

gather around the well to encourage one another.



Most importantly, this well opened hearts to the gospel.

The villagers saw that Christians don't just preach hope,

they demonstrate it. This well is more than water, it is a

testimony that God sees the forgotten and brings hope to

those on the margins.

We drilled and dedicated this well in front of Mr.

Nagina's house, in Bhadohi block and district. He has an extended family, and the village is largely a Harijan (low-caste) community. While some families are educated and well-off, they have unfortunately adopted the same discriminatory practices as higher castes toward their neighbors.

Many poor families lack basic facilities, and

drinking water was one of their greatest needs. Without land or resources to drill a well, or even proper drainage afterward, daily life was difficult, especially during weddings and social events, and even harder in the rain and summer heat. Feeling helpless, they received no support from their own community.

One day, our Quenched representative learned of their

situation and visited to see the reality for himself.

Now they have access to clean water freely, in every season. It has been a joy to see the impact on this community. Villagers have witnessed how Christians love one another and are willing to sacrifice their own resources for others.

This has opened new opportunities to share the gospel, and we are hopeful that, God willing, a church will rise in this place soon.

For years, a small Muslim community in Majhawan

Block, struggled for clean water. Most families are poor, earning a living through small businesses and daily labor, with many children to care for. Yet the village had only one old hand pump, unable to meet everyone's needs.

Women and children often had to walk to neighboring villages, where they faced rejection and

humiliation due to religious differences, leaving the

community feeling forgotten and helpless. During a visit, our volunteer, Brother Jakariah, discovered this village and was deeply moved by the people's suffering. He saw the long queues at the old hand pump and the burden carried by mothers and children.

Moved by the urgency of the need, he appealed on their behalf for a new borewell. After prayer and the generous support of donors, a well was drilled and dedicated to the community.

The new well has transformed daily life. Families now have clean water near their homes, saving time and easing hardship. After years of rejection, the villagers have experienced love, dignity, and care. The well stands not only as a source of water but as a symbol of hope and friendship. We pray this relationship continues to grow, bringing greater peace and openness to God's love in the village.

I am Chameli, wife of Sambhu. My husband is a farmer,

and I have six members in my family. I have lived in this

village for 40 years. For many years, I used water from

the canal, and later from a nearby hand pump. But

because we are considered lower caste, we were not

allowed to touch the wells of others.

Only the rich could afford to drill their own wells, so people like me had to beg for water from higher-caste families, who were often unwilling to let us near their wells.

I always wished for a well of my own, so I could be free

from this discrimination. I am so thankful to the Church

for showing us love and reminding us that we, too, are

human. They showed no caste distinction, they loved

everyone equally. I also heard the gospel for the first

time at my well dedication, and that was when I learned

that Jesus is God.



Thank you so much for this well, and for showing love in

such a practical way. I am so glad to now share clean

water with everyone.

I am Maya Devi, wife of Laxmi Khan. My husband is a

farmer who takes whatever work he can find in the

local village, and this supports our family and our

children's schooling. I have six people in my family, and

we have lived in this place for the last 50 years. For a

long time, we used river water for drinking, cleaning,

washing, and everything else. More recently, I have

been using a neighbor's well, about 20 minutes from

my house, making it very difficult to collect enough

water for the whole household. We were always short

of water.

One day, the local pastor visited us and explained his

work helping the poor in our community. A few months

later, he returned with a well driller and drilled this well

for us. Now I have deep, fresh, and pure water. It's an

automatic well that provides water 24 hours a day, so I

don't even need to draw it myself. Many people have

benefited, and all of us now have clean water.



Beyond that, I also had the chance to hear the gospel at

my well dedication. Thank you so much for this well.

I am Rudhali, wife of Hari Das. My husband is a farmer,

and I have 10 people in my family. I have lived in this

place for 25 years. Since then, I have used a neighbor's

well, about a 5-minute walk from my house. But I had a

bad experience using it for so long, the owner didn't like

us using his well for extended periods, so I could never

collect enough water for the whole day. It was

frustrating to face this same problem every day.

One day, a man visited our house and shared about his

work providing clean water wells to villagers. We told

him about our struggles, and a month later, he returned

and drilled this well for us. Now I have a clean well that

provides enough water for our family, and I can use it

anytime I need.



I had never heard the gospel before, but through this

well, I heard it for the first time. I came to know that

Jesus is also God, and that He is the one who can forgive

our sins. Thank you so much for the well and for sharing

the word of God with us.

I am Puja, wife of Suk Bdr. My husband is a daily wage

laborer, and I have seven people in my family. I have lived in

this village for 21 years, since moving here after my house

and land were destroyed by flooding. Our beginning in this

village was difficult, I had nothing except the clothes I owned.

For a long time, I had to travel a great distance for water; it

would take an entire day just to get a single pot. Later, a

neighbor drilled a well, and I began getting water from there.

But over time, the well owner grew unwilling to let us use it

for long. I searched for a sponsor who could help provide a

clean water well, but I couldn't find anyone.

Then a pastor visited us and explained how he was helping

people like me with clean water wells. I submitted an

application, and now I have this well of my own. I can use it

freely, with no objection from anyone. I am also glad that

they shared the gospel with us.

I am Anjali, wife of Sundar. My husband is a daily wage

laborer working at a construction site in the local

village. I have nine people in my family, and I have lived

in this village for the last 6 years.



Since moving here, I used water from an open public

well, about a 15-minute walk away. Many people came

to draw water there, so it took a long time just to fill my

pot, and the water was not clean. Those who used this

water often suffered from stomach problems, including

my son.

One day, a man suggested we request a well from

Quenched, and that's how I received this clean water

well. Now I have clean water for my needs, without the

long wait, and I've saved time that I once spent

collecting water for other tasks.



I had never heard the gospel before this well was

drilled. I really enjoyed the program organized for the

I am Bina, wife of Moti Ram. My husband is a truck

driver, and I have five people in my family. I have lived in

this place for 20 years. I used to get water from a

neighbor's well, about a 5-minute walk from my house,

but this came with problems. It was hard to bring

enough water for all our household needs, and there

was never quite enough for bathing and cleaning. The

well owner would often scold us, and I had to pay

money to use his well.

All of these problems were solved once I received this

well from Quenched. Now I have a well right in my own

yard, with enough water for cleaning, bathing, and all

our household needs—and it's free, with no

payment required.



I had heard the gospel before, but during the well

drilling process, I had even more opportunities to hear
